STAY - The Music Video

"Last December I was visiting my friend in Brooklyn and went to go see Head North. On my drive back I came up with this concept and texted it to Sara immediately when I got home. " “I’m in an empty warehouse in all black with a microphone on a stool. I’m singing the words and behind me is a projector playing old Idle Wave/Flammable Animals live footage.” "A simple enough concept for us to book a night with Kris and head over to a warehouse where we used to rehearse as a band upstairs. I dug up my old projector from college that we used to watch movies and play video games on and went through our old google drive to find clips to send to Kris. As we were mapping everything out we decided it would be more energetic if I started the video in one side of the room well lit and then moved over to the bigger empty wall for the projector to hit. We did a couple take and then after I drove home I was watching tv an hour or two later and Kris had already finished the video and sent me a rough cut of it."

STAY - The Lyrics

"When one of my roommates moved out I moved my gear into his room momentarily. The room was completely empty and stripped of everything that made it his. Sitting on the floor I wrote a song about everyone who has moved out of my life or our space, for better or for worse. The friends that you go through troubled times with and can’t look at the same and the ones who don’t look the same but you look at them the same. The demo process for this was almost exact to Happy and it was stripped even more back with Erik. You have to let things go from time to time and sometimes that includes people. At the end of the day, you shouldn’t think any less of them."

“Party Guy”: Featuring singles like the emotionally progressive “Home” or vulnerable display of “Stay”, Party Guy highlights the band's alternative roots while traversing through a nostalgic catalog of breakups and bitter ends. Although “My End” has proven to shift gears from all previous expectations, we consider the rest of the album as an homage to the band's past; including our influences. While the album was written and recorded primarily in 2019, “Party Guy” encompasses a larger than life meaning to us now. In the aftermath of what the world saw in 2020, this album lyrically possesses a perspective that is both unbeknownst to and familiar with the time of its creation, exploitation, and hopeful adoration.
